Beijing Daxing International Airport

Longest Schindler Moving Walk for Beijing Daxing International Airport

Beijing Daxing International Airport, which is still under construction, will be the world's largest airport, named as one of the new seven wonders of the modern world by The Guardian. This great project has got a variety of features, such as the world's largest roof area, the first domestic state-of-the-art base isolation technology as well as the design of mixed passenger flow of arrival and departure. It will serve the growing needs of air transport in the Beijing region and enhance the country’s civil aviation presence.

The dual inlet and outlet mode adopted by the new terminal complex will tremendously improve the efficiency of passengers' transferring. The distance from drop-off location to boarding gates will be more than 600 meters – namely, it takes up to 8 minutes to board the plane. The travel efficiency of the Chinese capital’s new airport will be further improved with modern moving walks. Among those is the longest moving walk in China with a length of 93 meters, produced in the Schindler plant in Shanghai.

World’s largest airport with enormous dimensions

Beijing Daxing International Airport is an important infrastructure to support the establishment of Neo Chinese Economy. It was designed by architect Zaha Hadid and covers an area of nearly 3 million square meters, equivalent to the size of 63 Tian'anmen Squares, with a total investment of approx. 12 billion US dollars. The project has scheduled 7 runways, in order to afford takeoff and landing of around 620,000 aircraft annually and to achieve the throughput of 100 million passengers per year. The airport is expected to be open in autumn 2019.

Schindler installations

172 Schindler 5500 elevators and 62 Schindler 9500 moving walks with its advanced environmental-friendly design and excellent steel belt traction technology will bring the passengers closer to their gates at the new hub in Beijing.
